Bit of a difference between a 13 foot high 1 mile long wall and a 50 feet high 2000 mile long wall..... ;)

The only sorts of barriers that have ever worked are one with machine gun post and people ready and willing to use them.

At 13 feet they'd still have to top it with those vicious curled blade thingys. Even then it wouldn't be foolproof. Of course if the blades were powered and rotated at speed...:scratch::D

Yes, I remember those from when I lived in West Berlin - funnily enough, they were seen as bad things then...

In 2004 the border fence set to be erected between India and Pakistan was lauded by the liberal New York Times. Their headline read: “India and Pakistan: Good Fences Make Good Neighbors”.

And are they manned by people who are willing to use machine guns* on those attempting to cross, as nomadking stated would be required on the Calais wall?

btw, the Israeli wall was designed to prevent suicide bombers attacking Israelis - not sure if we have many examples of Mexican suicide bombers attacking US citizens in the USA...

Love how the argument moved from 'stopping illegal immigrants at Calais' to 'stopping Suicide bombers in Israel'as if the two things were the same...

I actually support building the wall at Calais, but I don't support the machine-gunning of anyone trying to breach it, just like I didn't support the East Germans machine-gunning anyone who tried to cross the Berlin Wall (in fact, I was there primarily to stop them imposing that type of behaviour on West Berlin residents...).

*citations needed of guards on the walls shooting crossers, preferably not the Trump rallying forum Breitbart...;)
