Do VM still take down Sky dishes?
Met a friend at a BBQ over the weekend that I hadn't seen for years.
He said that ages ago, he switched from Sky to VM and that as part of the installation service, they offered to tidy up his property by removing the now redundant satellite dish. I guess that this made sound business sense. I just wondered if they still did this; although with the advent of Freesat, things are different now. |

I'd be very surprised if this was actually true Richard.
For one thing, they would have a no un-necessary working at height rule in place, plus the time that is actually taken to remove someone else's property would mean less time for further new Virgin installations that day. I suppose it could be an isolated case that the engineer did out of the kindness of his heart, but I can't see it being normal behaviour. |

I have never heard of this happening. Not in the last 15 years anyway.
Its not their equipment so they shouldn't be touching it. |

A sky installer was about to snip a freeview wire i had while he was installing with the phrase " you won't be needing this any more"

When i cancelled BT and went with Nynex BT did a total disconnection of the line and told me i'd have to pay a new install cost if i wanted to go back with them.
Talk about cutting your nose off! The result was i haven't gone back to them for over 25 years :) Although it's cheaper to get a new line installed now and if i wanted fibre it's a new install anyway. |

How would fibre be a new install over ADSL?
It would just use the same phone line/socket... |

I would have argued that he did not have the authority to authorise this should I have needed a phone line again. Doesn't really matter though, as I believe that Sky reimburse customers without a phone line. |
