How did my TiVo record 4 programmes at once?
I have a SL set for The Wright Stuff that starts at 9:15 am.
Due to frequent clashes when recording this programme, I set up a daily recurring manual recording from 9:25. However, today the circumstances were such that it was able to record both. What's odd is that there were occasions where 4 programmes were being recorded! Obviously it only has three tuners, so how did it manage to do this? My only theory is that if it has been asked to record the same programme twice, it does so via the same tuner. |
Re: How did my TiVo record 4 programmes at once?
I've had something simular where a series link and a wish list record the same program on the same channel at the same time, however if I delete one of the recordings both of them are deleted.
In your situation it has probably listed the recording twice from the same tuner but you try to delete one it will delete both. It's not actually recording 4 programmes but labeling one of the recordings twice. |

If the Tivo detects 2 scheduled recordings are on the same channel one after the other and both overlap due to padding it will use a single tuner to spawn the 2 recordings for the duration of the overlap. When I tested this I had 6 recordings at the same time.
Not sure if this is what you are seeing but it is one possible explanation. |

I've also been told that it could be because the tivos actually have four tuners and that one is used as the modem. I always thought that the TiVo only had three tuners and that it used one of them for VOD. If I'm wrong, maybe as part of the latest TiVo update they've allowed the 4th tuner to record when no Internet services are required?? |
