Ebay billing error help needed
I have my first Ebay problem.
I bought something via ebay using my credit card, but my credit card statement online is showing 3 identical transactions saying PAYPAL **** £2.25, the item i bought is £2.25 so it appears i have been billed 3 times. I contacted the seller and he is saying in garbled English that his Paypal is showing that he charged me only once. Quote:

Check your PAYPAL transactions record on the PAYPAL site?

Review your order. To the right of the order it should say Order Total, and below that how you paid. When I check mine, depending on which method I use, it says either Payment method... PayPal or Payment method... Visa, and that is the way the payment then shows on my bank statement.

So what should i do next, wait until i get my proper credit card statement then contact my credit card company if it shows as billed 3x £2.25? |

Re: Ebay billing error help needed
you are getting confused Snoopz, when you pay by paypal the money has got to come from somewhere because you haven't got £1 million sitting in your paypal account. Paypal is just a middle man and the seller sees the money coming from payal so you are hidden and paypal charges you. You have two options in your paypal account and you have to have one of them as a minimum. You either give paypal your cc info to charge to or you give it your bank account/debit card info. In my case paypal has both, my bank info is primary source and in the event there is a problem then it charges my cc.
You have a paypal account just as you have a cc account and you can sign into your paypal account and check all your personal info, billing info, address, transaction summaries etc. As soon as you sign in on your main page it gives you a 30 day summary of the money going into and out of your account and the point taf was trying to make is that you can see exactly what paypal have charged to your credit card. Before you say you haven't got a paypal account or never used it, you have because you would have had to have signed in and set it up before you started using ebay. http://www.paypal.co.uk |

Yes still confused as i found the PayPal account but there is no transaction history, I will have to wait and see what happens but the fact is my online CC transactions at the CC company are saying billed 3 times.

It sounds as though you chose the option to pay by credit card. So as well as seeing what your CC company say/suggest I would also contact PayPal as they are the ones who processed your payment then paid the seller via his PayPal account. It does appear that the error was made by PayPal and with only one item being bought I would hope that they rectify their error as soon as it is brought to their attention. |
Re: Ebay billing error help needed
It may not be so, but I had a tripler once. They debited, credited, then debited again.

Re: Ebay billing error help needed
Well i rang my credit card company in the end and explained that i had 2 duplicate payments for the same order, they said they would remove them, although pay pal will have 45 days to appeal but it is unlikely they will do so.
Still no idea if i have been scammed or not by the Chinese ebay seller as i only ever received 1 email confirmation which was correct. |
Re: Ebay billing error help needed
Errors simply happen sometimes.
I got double charged by Asda online shopping once. I simply contacted the card company, and they removed the second one, as it was an obvious duplicate. |
