Brussels in new 'terror' bomb alert

Quote:

Police in Brussels have surrounded a man who was behaving suspiciously and wearing "a long coat with protruding wires", Belgian media report.
A large police operation is underway near Place de la Monnaie in the centre of the Belgian capital.
The bomb squad is present. Shops nearby have been evacuated and several streets are closed.
Photos from the scene show a man kneeling with his hands up, while police point their guns at him.
Police say that they have the suspect "under control" but have not yet arrested him.

Let's hope this is the end of the matter, the authorities have got their man and nothing else is imminent.

Belgian radio reported that he would not remove his coat in 30c heat, so they were in a standoff whilst he melts....

Sounds like a complete weirdo but then, those who blow people up and mow them down in lorries in the name of Allah are weird and highly dangerous with it.

Apparently, he was a student studying radiation at the University of Ghent, and the wires and plates he was wearing were part of a device used to research radiation.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36844437

Ermm, OK.. Sounds a bit wierd.

Maybe the radiation got to him... :D

Seriously, didn't he think it might be just a tad unwise to do what he did? :nutter:
