Still maxing out at 150
Just switched from 150 to 200 today. The modem config is correct to the new speeds, but speed tests are maxing out at 150 - just as if the update was not done. Router (SH2) is in modem mode with a Netgear nighthawk router - so plenty of capacity. Any suggestions about why speed tests are indicating no change?

Have you tried a hub reboot?

Re: Still maxing out at 150
Thanks, yes I've tried that.
I have 8 downstream channels active on the SH2, all numbers look to be within range - even allowing for the hot weather. I think that's enough for 200M isn't it? Re: Still maxing out at 150
Are the speed tests being done wired or wireless? The symptoms you describe imply being done by wireless.

Tests are all wired. Gigabit throughout

Re: Still maxing out at 150
Have you set any QoS on your router? Might need to raise the maximum speed allowed to account for the new highest possible speed :)

Re: Still maxing out at 150
that is what I was just going to say. My MSI motherboard has got a smart app for the NIC and it was automatically set to throttle to 100mbits and enabled. It took me ages to work out what was wrong when I first got my pc and couldn't get more then 100mbits.
Some routers will automatically do speed tests/test your connection to ascertain what you connection speed and you will either have to manually override the result or just disable the feature. |
Re: Still maxing out at 150
Thanks.
Don't think it's motherboard related as I get the same ballpark results on different PCs/laptops. Will have a rummage in the router to see if there's anything limiting throughput. ---------- Post added at 21:29 ---------- Previous post was at 21:23 ---------- And the winner is............. Skie. Dynamic QOS! Thanks. |
Re: Still maxing out at 150
