Would you care if Brexit....

Would care if Brexit meant a 3 bed semi in London became close to the price of a 3 bed semi where you live? Yes lots of people may lose some money. But many more Londoners would have a chance of owning their home.

When will none millionaire Brits realise Leave is a good thing? We can have open borders if we want, we can tell every country on the planet they can have free trade with us if they want. ITS UP TO US!

As they say 'Onwards and Upwards'

We survived for Century's before Europe and we will still continue to survive and prosper without them ..

Something for the DramaLamas to have a moan about :erm: Blah Blah Blah .. ;)

What exactly is the point of this fantasy ?

Leaving the EU is not going to make the price of houses in London match those in the Midlands or the North.

No, it won't. All house prices will crash.

Probably not but it might make them more affordable?

The only Fantasy I see is beyond the waters called Europe

It all depends on whether the currency keeps falling, if it does its basic economics what happens next.

The man most likely to be our next Prime Minister doesn't appear aware that we're doing anything without Europe.

Quote:

"There will still be intense and intensifying European cooperation and partnership in a huge number of fields: the arts, the sciences, the universities, and on improving the environment.

"EU citizens living in this country will have their rights fully protected, and the same goes for British citizens living in the EU.

"British people will still be able to go and work in the EU; to live; to travel; to study; to buy homes and to settle down. As the German equivalent of the CBI - the BDI - has very sensibly reminded us, there will continue to be free trade, and access to the single market.

"The only change - and it will not come in any great rush - is that the UK will extricate itself from the EU's extraordinary and opaque system of legislation: the vast and growing corpus of law enacted by a European Court of Justice from which there can be no appeal."
Which would entail membership of the EEA.

I'm pretty relaxed at that prospect, though neither gloating or getting jingoistic.

So long as londoners salaries also fall as they will no longer need the weighting allowance....

And to you're bolded part, that's simply not true...

Re: Would you care if Brexit....

Sadly it's all about supply and demand.

More and more people want housing and there are just not enough houses for them because the government is not building new homes fast enough and the million or so empty homes which could be renovated and brought back into use are still being left undeveloped. If,nationally, we had 100,000 small building firms renovating an empty home every 3 months that would make 400,000 homes available in a year. If we don't have 100,000 small building firms maybe the government could start training up the unemployed in jobs like that to speed things along as at the present rate demand will always outstrip supply and house prices will stay high and unaffordable.

What we need in government are people with business acumen coupled with commercial or industrial experience not MPs with degrees in politics and economics but no practical experience of how things work in the economy in real life.

Looks as if supply is going to dry up somewhat which will likely balance prices. As will the upcoming interest rate cut(s). The house builders also want some stimulus from government, too.

Re: Would you care if Brexit....

One way to look at this is if prices fall consistently then the gaps also fall so people who can't afford to move up now can (may) vacating smaller and possible cheaper properties and so on down the ladder.

Unfortunately if prices do drop the the property investors are more likely to move in, hoover up more properties and we are likely worse off than ever.

And demand in London and the South East will still inflate prices there, forcing people to live further out push up prices there and so on. HS2 will see price inflation further afield as those places become (more easily) commutable to London.

Its not fantasy, prices are already falling and some big developers were offering sweeteners pre vote to guarantee investments should we vote out and now we have foreign banks refusing to lend to their citizens on London based property, good!

They're gonna demand it, so many big developments have been put on hold or shelved all together. We've lost half our work since Christmas and their ain't much coming in to replace it for instance.
