SIM card cutting
Hi,
think I may need a new phone soon, battery needs to be charged every morning, and I switch it off at night and don't use it much during the day, it's quite old, Android 2.3.6 gingerbread, so a lot of newer apps, mobile banking etc don't work on it any more :( I'll prob get something cheapish like a Blu or Wileyfox which seems to give better bang per buck at around £100,(maybe a few quid more for a known make if it makes sense). I'm on Orange PAYG, don't use my phone much for calls, text or data. however, my phone has mini sim, I think newer ones generally have micro sim. assuming I stay on Orange, so just get a phone, am I safe to cut the card myself with scissors? it looks easy enough, or am I better off buying a tool, or going into one of those shops that unlocks phones and get them to do it? ta |
Re: SIM card cutting
Just order a replacement sim they come in the 3 sizes all in one now

Re: SIM card cutting
ta, it didn't occur to me to ask Orange for a new sim, since I won't necessarily be getting the phone from them.

Re: SIM card cutting
I'm on a contract with EE, and when I upgraded from my Galaxy S5 to my S7 Edge, I popped into an EE store local to me, and they gave me a replacement sim free of charge, as the new S7 sim is a different size to the one that the S5 takes.

Re: SIM card cutting
cheers, when I've worked out what phone to get I'll pop in my local EE shop, or phone them up and see what they say, if they want me to pay for it I guess I'll just ask for my PAC.

They refunded it pretty quick when I called up to complain though. |

Osem Jnr just ordered a new 2 in 1 SIM from Virgin - £2.99 for next day delivery, 99p for 3-5 day.

Re: SIM card cutting
so, Friday last week I went on the EE forums as I couldn't log into my account, and basically got told to phone 150, which I did, they said they'd sort out my account, but meanwhile it would be quicker and easier to use the app on my phone, so they said they'd send a new SIM free of charge, which arrived today :) it's the type where you can pop it out to be the size you want.

Re: SIM card cutting
if you got a new sim with a different number for free they can port your old number on to it to get around paying if they say they will charge you, most providers send out new sims for free anyway
