Online banking security

Im curious if anyone has ever heard of Trusteer Report and if so what they think of it..

Reason i ask is that apparently a friend has been told by the Co Op bank unless this is installed on his PC if any fraudulent online activity takes place he would not be covered.

Here is the link to the software....

Trusteer Rapport is part of IBM, and I'm not sure they can say that he would not be covered, as they only "strongly recommend" it on the Co-op Bank website

We strongly recommend that you download this software as it will greatly enhance your security when banking online.

It doesn't state that the customer is not covered if they don't use it.

I have used for some while and it has flagged up dubious web sites and blocks them so I am very happy with it.

I use F-Secure which has a banking secure drop down window when you log on to your bank. Really good so far.

I had this installed on Win 10 until a recent Chrome update (50?) caused web page / chrome tabs hanging and very slow page load times so I have uninstalled it. PC back to normal again :)

Santander recommend customers use Trusteer Rapport.

Never used it myself but I get pop ups everytime I log in.

I get reminders from HSBC to install it but I won't. It hooks the windows API's at a very fundamental level, much like a virus. When it gets hacked, as it surely will, many people will be wetting themselves, especially the banks.

Just use a good AV plus good housekeeping.

Every time we go onto our bank online we get this Trusteer but we don't use it as we are happy as we are and have never had a problem.

It's just an annoying "pop-up" to those who are security savvy, BUT those that aren't????

Seems unlikely.

I would move bank if they started trying to dictate what software I use.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 and have told my friend that Lloyds Bank have never dictated this to me.
