are VM iphones locked to VM

Hi all

Quick question as above, would I need to get an unlock code from VM for an iphone (4S) about to end it's contract or are they already unlocked. Thanks ;)

Thanks Chrysalis, i did have a look online and there's conflicting information. Hopefully it won't be too difficult to get them to send me an unlock code.

This site says that VM payg phones are locked but pay monthly aren't !

I guess I could just try a different sim and see what happens.
