No Internet access on guest network when using SH1 as access point

Have received the SH2 which is now in place and running DHCP with default subnet. 192.168.0-254 and IP 192.168.0.1

I've configured the old SH1 as an access point with IP 192.168.0.5 and turned DHCP off. I setup a guest network which automatically gives a different subnet to wireless clients (192.168.1.X with a DG of 192.168.1.1).
When wireless clients connect to the guest network it does not allow internet access, connecting to the primary SSID on the SH1 is ok though.

Anyone else had this problem?

That can't work. SH1 has no way of knowing how to get guest clients out to the Internet. It can only handle clients on the same subnet it is on.

So it would work if DHCP was active on the SH1 but unfortunately that would conflict with DHCP running on the SH2.
Presumably the SH1 must have some form of DHCP operating for the guest network otherwise wireless clients wouldn't get assigned an IP or DG. It seems odd it can't route traffic via this subnet but can for the wireless clients attached to the Primary SSID on the SH1.

DHCP is not the issue. The subnet the SH1 uses is 192.168.0.xxx you've allocated a different subnet to wireless clients of 192.168.1.xxx. It just won't work.

Clients in its same subnet it will broadcast an ARP request for.

Clients in the 192.168.1 subnet or any other that's not in 192.168.0.0/24 it will use its default gateway.

As it's being used as an access point it doesn't have a default gateway, that would be the cable interface.

It's not doing DHCP at all just forwarding DHCP requests and responses for your wireless clients and SH2. That process is being done with broadcasts so works fine.

That would make sense, I haven't seen any settings to alter the subnet for the guest network so I guess this is not going to work. I'll have to source another router which supports guest networks since the wireless range on the SH2 is not enough to reach where I need it.

I don't think subnetting is the problem. I think the problem is that there's no way to configure the SH1 to act as an AP.

It's going to always forward its traffic to the internal modem, which isn't connected. I don't even know how OP got it to request an IP address via DHCP (192.168.0.5 if I recall), it's not like the SH1 has a WAN port or anything.

You're not wrong, this will never ever work. And the SH1 is a terrible wireless router anyway.
