Elderly woman shot dead at care home in Essex

http://www.itv.com/news/2015-12-28/m...t-a-care-home/

This is one of the saddest stories that l have ever read. The poor guy must have been at the end of tether when he done this

Saw his wife in the chair, and decided that he couldn't see her suffer anymore and pulled the trigger

And then the care home manager cuddled him to take the gun of him and he said 'enough'

RIP dear lady.:(

So you think an illegal weapon in the hands of anyone is sad?? He deserves to be done for murder and charged with firearm offences.. If this incident hadn't of happened then who knows where that revolver may have ended up and how many others may have been killed.

afaik, it was a home for dementia sufferers. It looks like the old man thought it was a 'mercy killing' and it possibly was. The weapon is being reported as a WW2 relic that he has probably kept safe all these years. I doubt that he cares what happens to him now after what he's had to do :(

you just making quotes up? Doesn't say anywhere in that article that he said anything at all! He was also a resident there.

Also he shot her and killed here, there for commited murder and should be punished as such.

I would suggest you all read the newspapers. I have read several on this.

Yes, the old guy used a gun, yes, it is sad. But the poor guy's mind was all messed up

How do you know his mind was all messed up? Have you spoke with him and performed a mental health assessment?

No, well stop making assumptions.

Do you not think you should wait until the police have investigated, the CPS to decide whether to prosecute him based on that investigation and a jury to find him guilty of the crime rather than you decide he is guilty based on a news story.

I cannot honestly see any court sending him to prison. His lawyer will probably go on the grounds of his age, and state of mind at the time of the action.

Don't know what others think.

I think its a very sad case

It's a sad case but does it justify what he did? I don't think so.

Regardless of what's gone on before shooting someone in the head isn't something I think should be brushed away.
There is zero chance of him reoffending and probably little chance he will be still alive for many years so maybe consigning him to a secure hospital would be the best course of action.

You can't say that. His wife may have asked him to do it

I now understand your Corbyn supporting "my way or the highway" view of things. Vile!
