The Metropolitan Police is appealing for help to trace a thief who stole Christmas presents from a hospital in South West London. The gifts, which included vouchers, champagne and chocolates, had been bought for nurses at St. George's Hospital. They were take from a room at the nurses' station between 6pm on Tuesday and 7.15am this morning.

Sadly there is always a very very tiny minority who spoil it for others.:(

Hospitals are always a soft touch for thieving unfortunately.

Personally I'd brand anyone caught stealing from the NHS, or attacking nurses and doctors, barring them from receiving any treatment in future.

Indeed. I remember when our second had been born (in Queen Marys hospital, Sidcup) we were so impressed with the care we'd received, especially when compared to our first birthing experience in St Johns, Chelmsford, that we asked the nurses/midwives if there was anything that we could buy them as a thank you pressy. They asked for a toaster and kettle as they had been stolen from their staff room the week before (by Romanians who had given birth in the unit, they said)
