Chrome - desktop shortcuts?

Does anyone know of a simple way I can get a Chrome shortcut to the CF forums put on my desktop? I've managed to get both standard Chrome and Chrome Incognito Mode as separate desktop shortcuts now but would like to have CF as a standalone shortcut just as I do in IE. It's the only website I access in this way and it's easy in IE but seemingly not so in Chrome.

Cheers as always. :tu:

Get the site up on your browser, click once on your url window (text turns blue), click, hold, drag, drop onto your desktop. (Make sure your browser isn't full screen so you can see your desktop. Obviously use Chrome to get the site up and not IE or you'll get an IE shortcut.

Under tools there used to be a "Create application shortcut" that would create a shortcut to the current webpage.

Look at the created shortcut in a text editor to see the format/syntax if you wish to create anymore manually.

@ Techguyone - I just tried that idea and oddly the new desktop shortcut which it created was an IE shortcut.

@ Kymmy - Yes that simple option has now gone from Chrome apparently.

Exellent - thanks Kymmy. :) The method is the same as I used for the Incognito shortcut apart from the text added at the end of the 'Target' path.

It'd be nice if the icon on the desktop shortcut could be made to look relevant to CF (as happens automatically in IE) instead of having just the Chrome icon with the new label under it, but at least it works this way.

One thing I've just noticed is that when I access the sites linked to the new desktop icons I don't get the various bars and buttons (eg address bar, bookmarks bar, back/forward button ) which are normally found at the top of the page.

Copy the CF icon to a file, right click on your shortcut and in properties choose change icon then select the file.
Use an icon generator if you wish to create a more detailed Icon from the CF banner

PS.... The default favicon.ico is in the /board/ directory ;)

It's the icon that the web browser picks up on for displaying on the address bar

That's not the CF favicon but the Vbulletin one, the CF one must be in the templates directory. Will see if I can give you a better link tomorrow :dozey:

Ah OK, I could see it was different but thought it had been changed from the old CF icon. Cheers.

Couldn't find it so created one for you if you wish to use it

http://www.hugzzz.com/cf.ico

Just download it to a safe place then point the change icon in properties to the file
