Congestion?
 
My download speeds drop every evening from around 150ish to around 20 usually around 7pm to midnight which I assume to be peak time.
Is there any way I can confirm this so I can speak to VM about a discount until it's sorted?

Sounds very similar to my segment. I would create a TBB Ping monitor graph here: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/monitors.html and monitor it.

Here's a snapshot from my segment for last Sunday, this is typical when 200Mbps would go down to less than 50Mbps in the evenings:

If your power levels are ok and you get your headline speed outside of peak times then this does point to overutilisation :(

Ask for a fault reference from support but you will need to be patient: some get fixed within 6 months but some don't. We are in our 4th year :(

Go on the VM forum and make a short detailed post about it as i did this and they checked it out for me then a few days later someone on the forum pmed me saying they have put a £10 monthly rolling discount on my account to be reviewed March 2016 and also a fault number.

£10? wow, I got a single payment of £3. Still on going for about 8 months. speed is between 10-20mb on 152mb between 5-12.

Yes and i didn't even have to beg, i was on the trials forum and just asked if someone could also check my connection as my speed drops from 100 to 20-50 most evenings.
