Slow and slower narrow band

Signed up for full Vergin 200; like last time, goes now even slower, lucky to get into the 20's. Can anybody say, when they say fibre connected is that to the street, town or county leval. they have not changed any cabling to/in the house since 20++ YEARS SINCE THE DAYS OF BELL / C&W ????

VM cable to your house should be a twin of co-ax for BB and TV and twisted pairs for the phone. Did they not do a new cable pull for the install?

Re: Slow and slower narrow band

In general I'd think that as long as the cable or the wall points aren't damaged, there should be no reason why cable installed 20 years ago won't still be ok now.

However, if there is a speed drop of that much it will be investigated, and if the cable is found to be at fault it will be replaced.

Same happened to me too - this is the result of putting lots of customers all on 200 on a pipe which is tiny. Sell Sell Sell, invest invest invest (in shareholders pockets only)

Investigated? LOL

Tech support told me my area was fine and that my problem was my wireless. And then when I downgraded from 200 to 50 and went to 70 (which now gives me a whopping 19 from now until 3am) I was told that the SH could give me 70 even with a profile config of 50.

In short the tech support woman was as thick as pigs ****.

So who does fibre to your door.

FTTP is available hardly anywhere.

So is all the hype on speed, just a VW moment?

Re: Slow and slower narrow band

Not at all, as long as the capacity is provisioned the speed is easily attainable.

If only, as VW and ENC Yet to see VIVID 200 Optical Fibre actually achieved, Any body actually getting it out there.

Yes there are quite a few. As usual though VM seem to be running behind with the upgrades before allowing users onto the new speeds.

In an ideal world all upgrades would be completed before increased speeds were announced but that delays VM's willy waving which they love so much.:D:D:D

Any body: are their any published, audited statistics of Signed & Paid up VIVID 200 Optical Fibre customers against connection speed achieved. or is it just a VW moment.

Not sure about 'audited', but quite a few people on this forum (myself included) have posted speed tests showing 200Mb/s speeds.

Thank you for leading into my next question, Network or User connection speeds? That Is The Question!

Ignitionnet 22-11-2015 11:43

Re: Slow and slower narrow band

Given they are speed tests posted by users I'd imagine they are the speeds those users are seeing.

EDIT: Perhaps if you want to join them in achieving those speeds accepting the offer to get your upstream power levels sorted would be a plan.

Re: Slow and slower narrow band

All ready waiting for them to arrange; After the standard No Yes No Yes you maybe have a problem.
There are various speed tests available to users some test the network (usually linked to the provider) some are connection. I am using WHICH & BT as a baseline and up 4 others at random at same time to check. Unfortunately it is not always clear what is what.
