Jonah Lomu: New Zealand rugby union great dies aged 40

Quote:

Lomu, who scored 43 tries and played 63 Tests for New Zealand between 1994 and 2002, was diagnosed with a serious kidney condition while still playing.

It forced him to quit the game and he had a kidney transplant in 2004, but it stopped functioning in 2011.

Yes there's something hugely ironic when someone who'd been at the peak of physical fitness is struck down in this way.

England supporters all have the way he blitzed the England defence during the 1995 RWC cruelly (but respectfully) etched in their memories but this is my other memory of the great man which makes happier watching:

RIP Jona.

Thinking of Dilli right now. :tu:
