Some knowledge required...
My neighbour came to my door earlier. Unable to get wifi in the house for "several days".
She had just spent 20 minutes talking to a VM bod on the phone, but was none the wiser. I went in and had a look. I suspected that they wouldn't get very good signals from the shub2 as it was placed on its side sandwiched between 2 metal boxes. :dunce: I moved it to the desk top, and all is well again. |

Re: Some knowledge required...
I once had the woman who lives 2 houses down come and get me. She had bought a new wireless router, but couldn't get the internet on it.
I asked her if she had called her ISP. "Yes, when I cancelled them." Turned out she thought a wireless router meant that she no longer needed an ISP. |

Re: Some knowledge required...
I remember a few years back when I only turned on my VM modem (ntl:250) when I needed it, one day I turned my lappy on and was surprised to see I had limited access to the web.
I checked to see how I was connecting when my router was on but my modem was off. I checked and it was a nearby neighours, bearing in mind that either side where in their 70s and had no computers, another didn't even have a TV so it left one, I asked him if his SSID was "XYZ" he said yes wit a "WTF how do you know" look and I told him what had happened and how to put it right which he did. I also in my router blocked his MAC. |
