Microsoft reduces Onedrive storage for all existing and new customers

Microsoft is to reduce Onedrive free storage from 15GB to 5GB for all users!
Will also affect Office365 and cameraroll! which will be reduced to 1TB and discontinued!

Meh, lots of people already only had 1TB. And will continue to have 1TB.

Seeing most free accounts won't have 1TB i guess it will be a big deal to them to get reduced down to 5GB.

Microsoft now let you keep your existing free storage if you activate it with the link below.

Just after I have spent ages finding extra space in my other storage areas. Oh well at least it gave me the impetus to sort out the dross.

Thanks for the link Snoopz. No doubt I will have no problems filling the free space I will now have. :)

Many thanks. Started reading this thread with disappointment, but ended up happy :)

Shame some people abuse anything that's free. I like Microsoft, untrendy I know.

Re: Microsoft reduces Onedrive storage for all existing and new customers

I stopped using "the cloud" to store my stuff way back in 2006 when Streamload/MediaMax/Nirvanix/TheLinkUp kept changing names, prices, capacities, rules and eventually their existence. As Streamload, I could upload and download stuff in 25MB chunks. Without warning they changed it to 10MB, meaning I had to pay to access my own stuff. So I did, and closed my account. Dirty behaviour? Oh yes. They continued it for years before eventually going bust.

NONE have been trustworthy. Just look at Yahoo pulling services entirely or unless you pay, Google, now Microsoft. A company known for its dirty practices. The biggest names in the business. Buy an external HDD or 2 and KEEP BACKUPS. All the stuff I care about is backed up to an external HDD, always encrypted, so I always have two copies, worthless to a thief.

Nor do I have the risk of it being leaked or hacked into, as is becoming ever more common.

I will never trust the cloud. Ever.

Back ups are all very well, but what if your house burns down ? I don't put anything confidential in cloud storage but as a back up for priceless family photos it's ideal.

Didn't MS do a similar thing ages ago?
