How to stop videos opening in web pages

I'm getting fed up of landing on web pages on which videos open up automatically and was just wondering if )via internet settings for example) there's any way to prevent them.

Cheers as always.

lol

I am using IE11 by the way.

I usually find these annoying videos on news media related sites. I've selected active x filtering (whatever that is) and have a nice little blue icon in my search bar but still I get the videos.

Stop using IE11. Use Firefox or chrome instead.

Do I conclude that it can't be done in IE11 then? ;)
