No show and then told I should answer my phone
 
Hello!
Moving into our new house today and decided to switch from Sky to Virgin after several years! Booked it well in advance and timed it so they came before our movers............

I waited in all morning and the engineer didn't turn up. I called customer services and was told that they tried to phone yesterday to confirm the booking (despite me doing it weeks ago and posting back I explained I didn't have any missed calls or voicemails but was told 'we did call and you should answer your phone'. They couldn't reschedule until next Friday.

I am really gutted about this because Sky offered to move us on the same day. I need internet for work and currently have nothing until Friday (assuming they turn up).

I am going to see if Sky can reinstate and move my connection and cancel Virgin for now but I was wondering if anyone on this forum can help at all? Even if I could have it installed early next week that would be better.

Also, my phone works fine so not sure if there is another problem preventing Virgin calling me?

I would say your no-show installer being a lying toerag is probably the problem.

I wouldnt be so sure there... if was cancelled the day before install by the call centre then it would not have hit the installers pda on the day!

Yeah they said that they cancelled it yesterday, which is ridiculous. I have received loads of other calls and had no missed calls, text notifications about missed calls or voicemails from them.

Really need it installed this weekend - do you think this could feasibly happen if I speak to the right team? I'm currently not confident it will be installed at all if they cant get through to my mobile then they will cancel it each time!

At this rate I will need to find a library to work at!

depends if it is a 2man or 1man install...

i.e. if it has previous cabling or needs to be put in from scratch... if its 2man man then no chance in Reading (Thames Valley) as they are fully booked, however if 1man then you might be able to get squeezed in if you scream loud enough

I should add - it has been a long time since I have posted here so now live in Bournemouth:-). Who could I speak to to do this? I spoke to a manager in the installs team who said he was the most senior person I could speak to and he couldn't do anything else other than offer some money off. That is nice but I really needed it installed :-)
