Homeplug technology to extend reach of VM services?
Having just bought some Homeplugs to enable the Wifi on my non wifi Freesat box, I was just wondering if VM could use this technology as a cheap way to distribute their signals?
Using the existing electricity infrastructure wouldn't involve the expense of digging up the roads. I'm assuming that TV could be carried as well as broadband, not sure about telephony. This would also benefit those in rural areas. Would there be any technical reasons why this couldn't be done? Thanks. |

Thanks for the link. It's a shame it doesn't work as well as they expected.

Maybe they'll use the waterlines or sewers next

Re: Homeplug technology to extend reach of VM services?
I wonder if they considered some of these options before going to the expense of digging up the roads?
Maybe the original franchisees had to build the network to a strict specification?? |

Microducting fibre is the cheapest option IMO, its quick, cheap and not intrusive

I'm pretty sure Virgin will go for whatever is the most economical.
