Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
I have decided i am paying too much for my VM package, i currently have PHONE M, BB 100mbit and TV XL(V+) and pay around £77 each month which includes the very few short phone calls i make.
I want to reduce my package cost considerably without starting a new contract as i have been out of contract for donkeys years. This is what i would like to do and would like advice on how much VM will charge for the below services and who do i phone to get this done? I have no interest in phoning 'thinking of leaving us' as i don't want a new contract and would rather speak to someone in the UK. Keep PHONE M Reduce BB to 50mbit(soon to be 100mbit again) Remove XL TV completely Thanks for the help. :) |
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
this makes no sense. why would you not renegotiate a deal every year? and now you're moaning about paying too much? the big kahuna is 68.99 after promotional pricing, and that for 152meg and a tivo, tele xl and m landline remain.
a reduction in services such as the broadband downgrade will lock you into a new contract. |

Just because i am not the kind of person to phone up every year to try and get a price reduction, does't mean i am moaning. I clearly said i want to reduce my services i don't need the TV anymore and because BB speed is getting doubled in a month or so i feel i can reduce my bill and save alot, i will then move to Now TV. I was pretty sure reducing BB speed didn't lock me into a new contract, i will check that out. |
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
its not all about price reduction though. do your current services price up against those on virginmedia.com ? you're paying too much. have you been on the same tiers since joining VM with pricing taking care of itself? pretty dire dude. you could be getting more for your money. VM can offer better.
there are options. you may not want to but it may spring a nice surprise. the uswitch deal i initially posted is no more but there is still a deal to be had.. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12...b-10-16-a.html call thinking of leaving and quote it. they may even add extra discount for being loyal and not going for any previous promos. the deal for broadband and landline on virginmedia.com has promotional pricing but its an 18 month contract, promo ends after 12 months. also the thinking of leaving department is based here not offshore. |
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
Thanks, i don't really want all the hassle to be honest, i just want a simple package reduction and the pricing i can expect which is what i asked for, i don't want to have to go through hoops.
Who do i call to reduce my package? 150? is it CS UK i speak to? |
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
then do it through the site and expect pricing and contractual terms not better that you could get via....
thinking of leaving open Monday - Friday 8am - 8pm and Saturday 8am - 6pm. call 150 from your landline option 1, option 1, option 4, option 2(remove services)/option 5 (thinking of leaving) |

If i endup having to have a new contract then i may have to go through thinking of leaving, but i would like confirmation that downgrading when out of contract starts a new contract. :) |
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
ah so you can't sorry i have never used the online tool to change my package.
the changes will lock you into a new contract. they wont even whack you on standard pricing without a new contract. |
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
Damn it sucks for a new contract then! Will have to ring retentions, hope it won't be too difficult and it will be UK based.
|
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
It will definitely be UK based. I don't think you'll have too much trouble getting on a new deal. the initial uswitch deal was a steal but even the one up right now is good. opt for line rental saver and quote the promo code = more savings :)

Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
I recently spoke to the thinking of leaving team. I was on the Big Kahuna with an extra VHD box and I have now lowered the broadband to 100mb and made a new deal where I am paying £60 per month for the next 6 months then £67 per month for the following 12 months. It did mean a new 18 month contract but i'm happy with the price and with the broadband being doubled in the next few months i'm not really losing that much.

Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
No I just phoned up and said my current deal was ending soon and was there any way they could reduce the price and got the above deal, no groveling at all and was sorted out in about 10 minutes.
Phone them and tell tham what you want and see what they offer you. |
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
Early this year I wanted to save money. I found that it was no cheaper to drop TV altogether. If I had it would have meant paying out for a box to record Freeview.
Having called Retentions (as far as I am aware the only way to guarantee a call to someone in UK) I have ended up with M TV with TiVo, 50 broadband and phone free weekends for 33 pounds a month. I certainly have not signed anything to say I am on a new contract. I am happy with that and miss very little having come down from XL TV and 60 broadband. |
Re: Reducing my VM package, pricing options?
You don't have to physically sign anything. Did you receive confirmation of your new deal through the post?
