Can't access GUI

Trying 192.168.0.1 and I get "the web page isn't available."

I am in modem mode, with a router attached.

I'm being dull I expect but how can I access settings?

Thanks

My wireless signal is still guff. I need to get a superhub 2. Or another provider.

Or your own router.

Got one of those. Paid £110 for it, and I don't get wireless 10 metres away from it.

What did you get? I'd be extremely surprised if your router is inferior to the SH1, plus it also implies that your issue is environmental and a SH2 won't help much.

Asus rt n66u. Latest Melrin firmware.

There are other threads on this, so apologies if I'm clogging up the board, but I refuse to believe that a mid terrace house has too much going on to get a decent signal from one room to the next. I can live with 20Mb for most of my devices. It's just the downloading speed that suffers.

I have to take the laptop from one part of the house abd sit it next to the router if I want to downlad somethign at the speed I pay for.

I does depend on what the internal walls are made of. Our being a Victorian terrace just has one brick thickness on the internal walls plus the plaster. This comes to being 5 inches thick. I know some modern walls have metallic insulation on the internal walls and that would really screw the wifi. I can get 2.5 GHZ reception reasonably well 60 feet away at the bottom of the garden but 5GhZ cant get through 2 walls to the garden.

This is an ASUS RT-AC66U running Merlin. As an example in the same room my Samsung S5 gets 160Mbit/sec.

That is a very decent router, which implies that the issue is local to yourself. What I'm saying is, a SH2 isn't going to fix your problem. Have you tried using Wifi-analyser (Android app) to see what's going on around you? Also have you created a separate network for 5Ghz to ensure you're connecting to that? If there is wireless congestion, switching to 5Ghz can be a good place to start.

Yes. Very little. 1 other network from a neighbour with faint signal. I have the channel selected to Auto

I have both 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks. The 5Ghz works well from about 4 metres away from the router, then is no better than the 2.4Ghz signal elsewhere. It's next to useless though as I don't have anyd evices 4 m away from the router.

As mentioned in another thread, when I test speed with my S3 smartphone, the maximum I get is 35Mb/s. Yet I did the same at a mate's house and I got 70Mb/s on his superhub2.

Tonight, I am going to try using superhub only. No modem mode. If I still get 1/5th of what I am paying for then I am going to ring retentions. The problem simply can't be "my house". Can it?

Wireless uses unlicensed spectrum. It could be anything. VM have no control over it and no obligation to do anything about it.

Sure. But anoher company might be willing to help me a bit more. All I have got so far is Indian people hanging up on me.
