Thousands have died after being found fit for work, DWP figures show
http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews...cid=spartandhp
There have been calls today for IDS to resign over the despicable results of people that have died, after being found fit for work. What is basically happening, is that if you can get to these medicals, or even walk up stairs, and you are claiming some sort of sickness benefit. Then you can go back to work. I strongly believe that if your GP or Hospital Doctor states that you are medically unfit for work,. Then that is it. You should not have to be forced to go to a government doctor, and then they OVERRULE you Gp or Dr. What this government should do, is find another way over stopping benefits being sent abroad. From people claiming here. Its a disgrace, and he wont go. But something has to be done to stop this barbaric medical system from continuing to cause grief |

Quote:
Every death in the report refers to somebody receiving ESA/IB/SDA at the time. IT DOES NOT REFER TO JSA CLAIMANTS WHO HAD THEIR ESA STOPPED. It refers to "flowed off ESA" which means stopped claiming ESA when they died. If it had said "flowed off JSA" it might have been different. |

Severak weeks ago, didn't some sick man get a letter telling him that he must go in person for an interview.
He was seriously ill in hospital, and the government medical service said he was fit to work. I repeat what l have said. Why doesn't the government go after those claimants that are sending benefit abroad to support there families. That would save millions. |

So what. IIRC the condition wasn't connected to his claim and they didn't know about it. EG I was in hospital for the best part of last October. If a letter had arrived, I wouldn't have known about it and the DWP would assume by my non-response that everything was ok and stopped my claim. It would have been very messy sorting it out, but the DWP wouldn't be to blame and neither would I.
