Question about Cat 5 / cat 6
I have a superhub 1..........From this I put a Gigabit Router in modem mode, which connects via two Gigabit powerlines over Cat 6 to a Gigabit pc.
However, The superhub is conencted to the modem via cat 5e. Would replacing the cat5e to cat 6 give any performance increase? Or is cat6 just a gimmick? Thanks |
Re: Question about Cat 5 / cat 6
Wouldn't matter one bit over that length of cable.

Re: Question about Cat 5 / cat 6
Cat 6 is a gimmick in any case, you don't even need Cat 5e to run gigabit, Cat 5 will do over short runs. As long as you have quality Cat 5e cables you can run gigabit up to 100m. Cat 6 is more beneficial for corporates running structured cabling, and Cat 6a is required to do full 10Gbps runs.

I only have one CAT. Do I need to get at least 4 more?
