Speedtest.net Beta test format
I see that speedtest.net now offer a beta test (still Ookla) using a different format as the test progresses and for presenting results.
I haven't discerned any changes in options for testing or sharing results. My results are very much in line with previous experience. http://beta.speedtest.net/result/4563797670 I am having trouble posting the result as an image, so I have posted a link instead. |

You mean save and upload like this?

Re: Speedtest.net Beta test format
I think he means an embedded link like this:
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2015/08/17.png But it's broken for the beta site: https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2015/08/25.png |

Re: Speedtest.net Beta test format
It's a bit off when your download is only 40% of your upload - do you think it's being shaped? ;)
JANET can be very useful for uploading files to cloud storage - just sayin'.... |

---------- Post added at 00:48 ---------- Previous post was at 00:29 ---------- Incidentally, I must say Softlayer (London and Amsterdam) speedtest servers are pretty decent right now, easily managing 2Gbps, Vodafone (London) and TNP (Manchester) are very good too. The once-great Namesco and Structured communications are both pretty poor right now though Namesco by far the worst. Structured is fine for <=300Mbps connections but Namesco I'd stay away from unconditionally. |
Re: Speedtest.net Beta test format
the beta site redirects me to www.speedtest.net. Even the speedtest result is www. not beta when I click on it.

Re: Speedtest.net Beta test format
Hmm, I still get the beta site when I go there - as long as I'm logged in. In incognito mode you get redirected to www. The beta site was supposedly "invite only" so perhaps you need to be logged in to access it?
|
Re: Speedtest.net Beta test format
so it might be because I wasnt invited or possibly due to a cookie issue.
I checked my browser and it isnt saying I am blocking any cookies when accessing the site. (am logged in) I get immediately redirected rewrite style as if they have a rewrite rule on their http server. Is the beta html5 or still flash? I also hope pingtest.net have a beta as needing java for the packet loss test is annoying. update - now its working, I guess when I switched to my login earlier today I was been redirected due to loading cached data. |

The next generation of Speedtest is here! Upgraded Technology Improved Interface Responsive Design TRY IT NOW! However, the Beta site does not offer 'Image' as a sharing option, only 'Web', 'Embedded', 'Forum'. I have never been able to figure out how to display my results any other way here, other than via image. The forum link doesn't even show up here, not even the code. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2015/08/21.png http://beta.speedtest.net/result/4575875247 |
