Vodafone's new Broadband offering

So Vodafone has got in on the UK home phone and broadband market and is currently on trial in a few areas with national launch fairly soon. They have 8.5 million BB customers in Europe already.

Three tiers of service, 17Mbps, 38Mps and 78Mbps(all up to speeds)

Of course Vodafone customers get it at great discounted prices. Also includes evening & weekend calls and other inclusive things.

Sounds like a great bit of ISP provided kit with many cool features and an app to stay in control of it.

Good bit of kit but doesn't change that they are doing nothing other than reselling BT Openreach service.

If they want to get serious they're going to need to invest in a genuine next generation access network in their own right.

Well they do own the cable & Wireless network now, so who knows what may happen in the future.

But they don't have the Access Network to reach the customer. Fine they can backhaul all the traffic themselves on their own core, which will save them money and help with the margins, but unless they put in their own FTTP then they're just same old, same old.

Indeed they deliver their services using the C&W LLU/backhaul network already. It does save a little cash but obviously means nothing for the services they are delivering.

Indeed, Iggi himself did say the Openreach FTTC access network is in fine shape, congestion wise at least.

Yes indeed.

I shall be off the BT Wholesale network in a couple of weeks so it's all good.

Seeing service affecting congestion 3 times in 18 months wasn't pleasant.

Trust you to find the only non-BTw business FTTC around with unlimited usage.
