I have two connections yes two had them over nine years so two routers to two different pc's in the same room, Why I hear you ask why two connection I run a radio station so one is for that.. the other one for office use.. now the problem is this the net has been brill for months now.. and 4 days ago the net kept dropping off for a few seconds/minutes then back on again and the lights on both router were normal blue light flashing at top bottom green light static.. looked at router netlogs and no time outs and nothing wrong.. could understand IF if one one but both are doing it at the same time.. phoned them and they say all looks good no faults whatsoever. one said it could be the routersas there just the superhubs1 and another said it could be the splitter needs changing.. I just want me net back any help would be a great help...

Set up a monitor at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/monitors.html and post a few days' graphs.

This has nothing to do with wifi and means you haven't set up your graph correctly. You need to respond to pings via an option in the superhub.

See http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/g...b-vmdg480.html

ok dont know if this is the trouble but both my sh1 that are dropping is caused by power surge etc so im getting the new latest SH to see if that will sort the problem out, if that dos'ent work then its Virgins end thats at fault

how do you know it is caused by a power surge? Have you got a surge protector for your shub/pc/monitor/associated devices?

Others were asking for a broadband ping graph so they could see the quality of your connection. I'm not sure a surge in power is causing this however I could be wrong. It's hard for someone to help when they have no diagnostics of your connection and only have a couple of examples you stated to go by.

Mains power surges causing a modem to crash or reboot would clearly show in the logs and the lights.

Coax power surges shouldn't cause any issue as it's all isolated anyway.

posted on the virgin forum and got this back...

Hi Livvy,

Thanks for posting, though sorry to hear of the recent connection problems, annoying.

I've run a few checks on your service from this end can see that your Superhub has been reporting high numbers of return path errors and power adjustments, which in the absence of any reported wide fault, will need an engineer visit to call and check things out locally.

The thing thats a puzzle is my next door neighbour's net and routers are doing the same and at the same time!!!!

Nope still doing it net dropping off But only for a few seconds or mintue the most.. so by the time the router picks this up and thinks I change the lights it comes back on again and then the router saids Oh im not off line i carry on, its been every day since the 31st July and only 2 days out of that has no dropped off the net.. the thing is the next doors neighbour is having the same and at the same time hers is doing exact same
