Need help!!!!!
Today I installed a TRENDnet TPL-410APK 500 Mbps Powerline Wireless N300 Extender Starter Kit to extend my wifi to blind spots in my old house - things have now gone pear shaped!!!!!!!
My external devices like ipads etc seem to work ok on wifi on both networks (VM and Trend) but my trusty old mac ( 2 feet from router) seems to function only on a wired connection Any idea what is going on!!!!??? |
Re: Need help!!!!!
what does the mac say? Presumably there is a network connections window in which it displays available wireless networks?
|
Re: Need help!!!!!
it is showing that my wifi is available and it is to external sources but when i
disconnect the cable from router to mac, the mac stops connecting!!!???? |
Re: Need help!!!!!
I have never touched a mac so I am going to have to state the obvious. If you disconnect the cable then you are obviously going to use your network connection. If it were a windows pc you would then have to use the wireless network utility to scan for available wireless networks, select a network to connect to and then enter the password. It would then tell you you are connected etc. I can't see why anything else would have changed on the mac side. The only thing which would be different is that any wireless device would now see the additional trend wireless network in addition to the shub.

Re: Need help!!!!!
Well let's try and be positive until a Mac user or someone with a bit more know how arrives to help.
In other words not too much banter. ;) |

Re: Need help!!!!!
If you hold the option key down, this displays the detailed wifi info - see http://osxdaily.com/2011/06/15/get-d...-the-menu-bar/
This should shed some light on if you have connected, what SSID you are connected to and what your ip address is, etc. |
Re: Need help!!!!!
Good some positive help.
