Crash victims undiscovered for days
A dead man and critically injured woman have been found in a vehicle which had crashed and left the road not far from junction 9 of the M9 in Scotland.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...ntral-33438667 It appears the damaged vehicle was reported bon Sunday morning but not followed up by the police at the time so the occupants were probably lying injured inside for several days before being discovered. God only knows how much they may have suffered in that time. :( |

Re: Crash victims undiscovered for days
This is very sad and even worse if the driver was alive for some time after the accident. Seems stange that the police followed up the missing persons\vehicle report without linking it to the accident report even though the car model was the same.

Re: Crash victims undiscovered for days
I found this story very sad and shocking, why did the police fail to respond to the road crash when it was reported I just don't understand that.
My heart goes out to the families and I wish Ms Lamara Bell a speedy recovery. RIP John Yuill. |
Re: Crash victims undiscovered for days
But was it a crash that was reported or just that a car was off the road? Why didn't the person who reported the car, investigate further to see if everyone was ok. If they thought no help was needed, why should the police?

Re: Crash victims undiscovered for days
Police Scotland has since admitted it received a call about the crash, but for some reason it was not followed up :(

Re: Crash victims undiscovered for days
So sad about the young man having died, I hope the woman passenger recovers physically though how she will get over the trauma is another matter.
I also hope the reason this incident wasn't investigated at the time can be established and procedures put into place to stop this happening again. |
Re: Crash victims undiscovered for days
Typical. With all the cut backs in the police they are gonna blame this.
Sad someone has died tho. |
Re: Crash victims undiscovered for days
Policing is devolved to Scotland. Can't blame the cuts in England and Wales for this one.

The Police have been pretty vague with the details so far so I'd imagine the call should have been assigned and dealt with at the time. Quote:

I quite like my job so won't be going looking at the call logs so I'll be waiting like everyone else for the enquiry to finish but it's a tragic situation. |
