I was genuinely devastated yesterday when I heard the news.
He once said that Yes will carry on long after he's gone but I don't believe that at all since he was the only one holding the band together for all these years. Chris Squire wasn't just a great bass player but he was also a great singer, contributing those distinctive harmonies to pretty much every track they recorded. Regardless of the lead vocal: Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Trevor Horn et al, the vocal was always underpinned by those harmonies and without them it wasn't really a Yes song. RIP bassman |
