Another cyclist killed in London

http://www.itv.com/news/london/2015-...other-cyclist/

I have the deepest symphay for this person:(. And brings up several points and one point comes from the Association of Hauliers.

Cyclist need education on the roads in London, especially around the City of London. And banning Lorries in the City of London would bring the City to a standstill.

There is always Building work going on there.

They could bring in a scheme that operates in Oxford. Delivery vehicles have to in and out of Oxford Centre, where the colleges are by 8am.

was this another cyclist undertaking a truck at a junction again ?

Or a truck pulling alongside? This just cannot go on. Something has to be done. Segregation would do it.

I think there's a very strong case to ban tipper trucks especially during peak hours.
We do understand the construction industry needs to get its goods and services in and out of London while people are working on site.
However too many people are being killed on the streets of London by collisions between cyclists and lorries.

No mate ban cyclists who break the law and fine them heavily.

If a car undertakes he can get done, so why a different law for cyclists?

At the end of the day another life has been lost and my thoughts are with her family and the driver of the lorry.

Looking at the angle of the wheels and its on the left hand side I would say yes.

The truck may have pulled alongside her when she was stationary.

it is possible the lorry was in the wrong but more chance the cyclist was where they shouldn't have been ,also looking at the photo in the link the cyclist appears to have been on the left of the lorry as it was turning left

The truck may have pulled alongside her when she was stationary and the driver may have chosen to impose the greater size of his vehicle rather than let a very vulnerable girl get out of the way safely.

Possible I don't deny but really if the cyclist was stationary at a junction she should have been in the centre of the lane to prevent that.

On a side note it is noticeable from the picture that the lorry has been upgraded for city of London driving ,extra mirrors ,side bars and most likely side facing cameras ,shame these measures didn't work

I just don't think we know the facts yet. If she herself was turning left, commanding the centre of the junction to control the traffic would probably attract all sorts of other nutters. Perhaps she would still be with us though.

Agreed,i also think it does no good to talk of banning cyclists or trucks ,neither is a real option
