Site down issue

http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/activity/status.php#yvo

Tells me "Server not found" when using a VM connection, even when I'm using Google public dns nameservers, vm nameservers, or opendns nameservers, but when I switch to my vpn, or use a friends (non-VM) connection, it works fine.

I know it seens strange but, are VM nullrouting usgs's servers for some reason?

Works fine for me on my Virgin connection. Do a tracert on that domain, maybe?

Works fine from North West Leeds.

Re: Site down issue

Hm, strange. Very strange.

Thanks for checking though.

Code:

milambar@fundungeon:~$ tracepath usgs.gov
gethostbyname2: Unknown host
milambar@fundungeon:~$

It's as if the domain doesn't exist, at all.

Re: Site down issue

The server that handles the usgs.gov domain is down.

whois usgs.gov
% DOTGOV WHOIS Server ready
Domain Name: USGS.GOV
Status: ACTIVE

dig usgs.gov

; <<>> DiG 9.9.5-3ubuntu0.1-Ubuntu <<>> usgs.gov

Worksforme, assuming it's fixed now?

Spoiler:
qasdfdsaq@qasdf-servage:~$ whois usgs.gov
The program 'whois' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install whois
qasdfdsaq@qasdf-servage:~$ dig usgs.gov
