Cover City
Anyone else having problems accessing covercity.net?
I can access it form any other ISP but Virgin where it always times out unless I use a VPN. |
Re: Cover City
No idea what it is, but not loading here in Newport, South Wales. I notice you are also in South Wales.

Re: Cover City
Could be an area thing but I doubt it. Thanks for giving it a try.

What browsers have you tried? Perhaps disabling any extensions? - eg with very similar ICMP and TCP trace routes to you I get an incomplete Website load on Safari but no issue on Chrome! :p |

What problem CPE end do you suspect? |
Re: Cover City
Just tried it from here on FF 37.0.2 under XP SP2 Loads no problem either from a google search or directly. Looks like it is area specific.

Re: Cover City
same for me Pip. If I try it normally it just hangs there saying "waiting for ........" but if I use my vpn it loads straight away.

So let's recap. Up until Monday of this week I was able to access the site without a problem using Firefox 37.0.2 but since then cannot on a VM connection but can via either a VPN or any other ISP. That would appeear to rule out a browesr issue as it would happen on other ISPs too. So far heero is the only one able to access it using Firefox 37.0.2 without issue but he is using XP SP2. horseman can access it on chrome only. All other browser's he's tried cannot. An area fault? I doubt it as South Wales, North London and leeds are all reporting the same issue here. Wonder if it's a Windows update causing it? Time to rule that out. I'll report back in a day or two. |
Re: Cover City
If it says "Waiting for" then that suggests it has managed to successfully connect to the server, so ruling out any routing or range-blocking issues. Given that it's still ISP specific, I'd guess something in the TCP/IP stack is breaking things.
Could be a problem with PMTU/MSS, or an intermediate hop/transparent proxy/filter breaking when faced with window scaling, fragmentation or something like that. A Wireshark trace would help, esp. one with and without VPN, though with MTU issues being more likely I'd try just setting that down first. Or their implementation of SPDY or pretty much anything else on layer 3 through 6. Regardless, anything other than an MTU problem would suggest your ISP is intercepting and/or tampering with your connection to the server. |
