FA Cup title sponsorship: This should not be happening

http://news.sky.com/story/1474696/fa...porate-rebrand

We are talking about the greatest football competition in the World. And it must remain as such

As typical, its all about the money. The FA gets pots of money from Tv etc etc. And yet want sponsorship for this trophy.

IF they are going to rebrand it - then it must NOT have any connection with a club, that it also sponsors.

When you think footballers earn and absolute fortune, and when they fine clubs and players - where does that go to. It certainly doesn't go to grassroots football

Sorry Arthur, but I don't care about the cup, the sponsorship, the players or the game. In the New World Order all sport will be relegated to its proper amateur status.

Up the revolution! :)

Hmmmmm, I don't suppose the team also sponsored in this instance has any bearing on your opinion Art..... ;)

Sorry but another non event as far as I am concerned.

Its been sponsored for years and usually features the name of the sponsor attached to the 'FA Cup' As mentioned in the article.

Also it is the oldest cup in football. Not the greatest by any means. I'd say that goes to the world cup.

Finally so what if the company also sponsor a club.It wouldn't be the first time. Clubs in other countries may have the same sponsor as well as more than one UK club or event. Emirates also sponsor other teams in Europe and the rest of the world.

Here is the list of teams sponsored by Emirates

AC Milan, Arsenal, Hamburger SV, New York Cosmos, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Its just them giving money in to the FA and teams. Where is the harm in that?

Also Arthur where do you think the prize money comes from. Here is last year's amounts given out to clubs.

http://www.thefa.com/thefacup/more/prize-fund

Also it's from a few years ago but this is an article and video of how much money is put back in to football by the FA.

http://www.thefa.com/thefacup/news/2...eloitte-report

Facts are great.

Also did you actually read the article. As I mentioned the Cup have been sponsored since 1994. It's not a new thing at all. Why do you think all the league's have company names attached, yes indeed it's called sponsorship.

Two questions being answered. Yes, l know that The Emirites is Arsenal - and no nothing to do with that

Grassroots football - I was a referee for five years, and some of the grounds that l have played in are in a terrible conditions.

I know that parks, are used for Sat and Sunday football matches - this is what l call Grassroots.
I live near Gunnersbury Park, years ago, you couldn't get a pitch on there - there was 30 pitches. This is now run by a private company. Appalling conditions.

Warren Farm, again very popular for Sat / Sun games, again appalling condition. And recently sold by the Council to QPR as there new training ground.

Grassroots football is local pitches in Parks. This is where scouts pick talent for the future

Well more often now they visit youth teams and school rather than just parks.

Emirates is more than the sponsor of arsenal as I mentioned.

Times have changed and the FA probably put out a lot more money than you realise.
