I hear by the end of the year.

I am guessing they will be traling and testing but possibly just need to get a deal with EE to use the 4G network.

VM previously announced they have no plans to bring out 4G because their customers don't want it.

I've not heard that position changing.

I'm guessing Virgin will have to see the existing 3g contract out with EE

Everything Everywhere, the British telecoms operator, has struck an agreement to provide mobile services for Virgin Media, gaining a contract expected to be worth more than £300m in revenue over a period of five years.
The agreement to provide a telecoms network for Virgin Mobile is one of the largest so-called “virtual operator” contracts in Europe. EE had previously held the contract, although signing a renewed deal will be a relief to the UK company given the competition from other telecoms groups during a long tender process. The deal could be announced as soon as this week.

Funny how the article called EE a "British telecoms operator", possibly foretelling the future where they owned by British Telecom, becoming a British British Telecom telecoms operator!
