Saturday Night / Sunday Morning - TiVo Reboot?
Morning all,
Just a quick question as to whether anyone's knows if VM do an update or auto-reboot to TiVo sometime overnight on a Saturday night / Sunday morning? Only reason I ask is that I always switch my TiVo into standby when I go to bed but for several weekends I've noticed that when I come to put the TV on on a Sunday morning, the TiVo is already on. I can therefore only assume something is happening overnight to do this but it's obviously something scheduled for it to happen the same night each week. Grateful for any suggestions. |

This has been happening to both my TiVo boxes for some time; one does it Saturday night / Sunday morning and the other Wednesday night / Thursday morning...

Yes, TiVos do reboot periodically. It's done to avoid certain faults that can occur after the box has been running a long time.
If you want to change the day it happens, reboot the box yourself on a different day, then it'll start rebooting on that day instead. |

I had a Humax Freeview box that needed rebooting so very often, that I plugged it into a mains timer socket to switch it on and off at around 5am every day. My WDTV needed rebooting every so often when I used it for Netflix. At least with Tivo, you don't have to take the reboot action yourself. |

Cheers for all the replies, guessed it must be something like spiderplant has confirmed.
It's a good idea as the TiVo did need a reboot every now and again so I guess a weekly auto-reboot saves a lot of faults and calls to CS. |
