Slow response to Tivo commands

I am getting slower response times to tasks such as deleting shows once I've seen them and paging through my list of shows/planned recordings.
Seems to have only happened since the last rollout and sems to get worse some days.

Does anyone else suffer from slow response times and does anyone know if the issue is being addressed as a potential fault.

Yes l am still suffering from slower response times on the TiVo but whether the issue is being addressed well that remains to be seen.

Slow response immediately after the box has been idle for a while is a known software fault.

But slowness when you are actively using it is usually caused by IR interference from something else in the room. Search the forum for solutions - this has been discussed many times in the past.

My wife uses her IPAD/IPHONE through WIFI on the new Superhub, maybe this could be having an impact on the Tivo performance !!

Unlikely. TiVo doesn't have WiFi and runs completely independently from the Superhub. It's far more likely to be caused by something else in the room, like your TV screen or low-energy bulbs.

Re: Slow response to Tivo commands

We have not changed our TV for quite a while and it was ok to strat with it's only just recently that it has got slower.
We only have 1 or 2 energy bulbs on in the room usually and like the TV have had them since we first had the Tivo installed and it worked fine then.
Had thought it was a remote control problem with batteries fading but when new ones were put in it was just the same so that idea was ruled out.

Quite subtle changes can be enough to trigger this. A change to the TV picture settings, or simply moving the TiVo or some furniture can do it. There are other possible sources of IR too.

But it's easy to test if this is the cause. Try putting your left thumb over the IR receiver on the front on the TiVo (it's just to the left of the standby light), then control the TiVo menus using the buttons. Does it now go faster?

Nothing has changed in my house for a couple of years except the speed of the TiVo which is painfully slow & first time it is used each day my TV thinks it is switched off !!!:(

Just tried this & the answer is NO

I've never seen the IR fault on the TiVo and I've been to 1000s of tivo faults. The only box I've ever seen do that is the Samsung 2110.

Our Tivo can also get very slow sometimes. How does it compare to the other PVR's from Sky, BT, etc?

I have Tivo, Humax Fox HDR T2 & Sky+HD (yes I know - too much TV etc.). The Tivo seems to be getting slower by the day - the Humax & Sky+ are both lightning fast. When I go to My Shows on the Tivo I actually get cartwheels for up to 20 seconds until it comes up with a list. The list isn't that long either, only 7 or 8 recordings. Sometimes, the box takes so long to respond to a remote keypress I think it has't registered so press again only to have to go back a step when it finally catches up.

No changes in my setup have been made for a long time.

same here both of our Tivo boxes run very slow at times to. A reboot usually speeds them up for a week or two but then they slow right down again. The Tivo boxes are great but very tempermental imo.

Re: Slow response to Tivo commands

If you use a recorded programe then try the fast forward 1, 2, 3 speeds, stop, pause, rewind... test to see the response time actions (e.g. no freeze).

I you have Netflix does this freeze on pause, ffwd, play.

I need a new hand control for the TiVo... does any no the procedure on how to get one.
