Good night, sweet prince. This morning, I woke up to no wireless. Looked at my trusty Asus RT N66U only to find that it was completely dead. No power to it what so ever. You can see when it gave up the ghost: The power adapter seems fine (has a blue flashing light on it), but the device itself is toast. It's in the hands of the Asus Warranty Gods, now :( |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. Does your Asus have a 2part power brick? Sometimes the 2halves decide to break apart. |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. that's a damn shame, have you got a spare router you can use in the meantime? |

We have a spare model (same model) at work, I might "borrow" that if Asus' RMA process drags its heels. |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. Clearly your cat has been humping it too hard. |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. He does like to hump it. |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. I have an ASUS RT-AC66U and it runs so hot u can burn your hand on the botoms of the ariels. I have now ordered a 6" 2 speed clipon deskfan to clip to my desk so i can have a constant cool airflow blowing over it. |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. ...so um. It lives! I have no idea what happened. I erm. Borrowed a power adapter from work, plugged it in and...nothing. I fiddled and prodded and pushed and pulled, but nothing. So I went to work on switching back to just the SH2, reconfigured everything, got frustrated at the arbitrary limitations of the SH2 but sorted it. Then as I went to move something, noticed a couple of blue lights sheepishly blinking at me. It was alive. I plugged the old adapter back in and again it was alive. Off and on no problem, as if nothing had happened. http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/s...24-03-2015.png I was more worried about losing my IP than anything else. |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. Something intermittent in the power connector or maybe a dry joint on the main PCB near the connector? Good if it's decided to wake up. |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. Not a scooby! I'm not holding my breath, I'll leave it for now and see how it goes. Fingers crossed it was just having an off day. |

Re: Good night, sweet prince. From recollection the plug facia has sprung contacts that marry to transformer. (Which was the problem I experienced when inserting the 3pin plug adapter to transformer) |
