Pupils 'banned from watching solar eclipse' for cultural and religious reasons

http://www.itv.com/news/london/2015-...gious-reasons/

I am 63 years old, and quite open minded, but over the past few days l have heard several different ' stupidity situations' which makes me put this on the forum

1) A friend of mine was forced by his council to remove England flags from his windows in case it offended religious beliefs

and 2) the above, l cannot believe that this eclipse was banned for kids on cultural and religious reasons

What a load of rubbish. Who is it going to offend, Its nature, its OUR solar system and part of education.

Just put a star on top.

Soon we will be reminded that blacks are different to whites.
incase anybody missed it the last few hundred times in the 21st century.

If he owns his own home he can put a flag in his window(s) (so long as it is not ISIS one). If he is a housing association or council tenant then he may have to abide by their rules.

In my view he is an Englishman and wants to be a Patriot than he can tell the council to go stuff their selfs, or take him to court for breaking what law!!!!

NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE will ever take my flags from my windows, not even a judge.

I would go to gaol first.

Religion stinks.
it always gets in the way of everything.

no matter what happens in the street today. religion will always crop up.

take the bin out. religion jumps out and complains.

Wise move

It can be very TRAUMATIC to heliophobic people, causing mixed emotions, unhappiness, followed by happiness, then unhappiness in a matter of 1 minute. Very bipolar.

And let's not forget how many vampires could pop out during the eclipse, only to be killed a minute later. Wise move indeed.

Thanks god for the clouds, we couldn't see a thing!

Sad really, but people had better get used to it, because it can only get worse.

I know. society gets broken up and segmented because of religion.

well this section won't like this. and another section won't like that because you like something that they due to their religion will be offended by.

you got someone with a query over a bill. they ask him what religious gang he belongs to so they can get a specialised person to deal with his query. and they daren't offer him a cup of tea whilst he's waiting just incase the tea may offend him and may have to be made in a mug that was blessed by someone who believes in fairies.

Yeah, minorities do like to stick together and spread the word of their god.

I wonder what they want to be when they grow up.

Seriously. were they trying to incite a riot?

Given Arthurs history of embellishment and non factual statements I'd be wary of taking the story of his friend being forced to remove flags from his windows as entirely factual

I'd be pretty certain it's not true. I refer to this each time someone get "banned from flying the England flag in case it offends someone", during the 2010 World Cup I lived in the very multicultural Leicester and the England flag was everywhere you looked.
