Labour MP puts remembrance wreath on expenses

Quote:

An MP claimed £17 on expenses for the cost of a Remembrance Day poppy wreath.

Sarah Champion, Labour MP for Rotherham, billed the taxpayer for the tribute as "office costs", describing it as "necessary expenses".

Let's hope that no other MP has done the same.

Disgusting and not even an allowable expense, what is wrong with these people, are they really this stupid or so full of self importance/ contempt for the plebs

You'd have thought that, since all the expenses nonsense came to light, our glorious leaders would be forensically diligent in checking what they're claiming for to weed out the spurious or ill-judged. Clearly the message hasn't sunk in for some of them.

Unfortunately the MP's make these kind of claims "because they can" It's about time the rules were changed to prevent it, but I can't see it happening soon.

Again its one rule for them and another rule for us it seems.

It amazes me that firstly she would actually be so mean as to claim expenses for a £17 rememberance wreath and secondly she's so out of touch that she cannot see how bad it looks.

Yes, good people of Rotherham, do you really want this person as your representitive?

To be honest with u this is a bit one sided since Boris was also caught doing the same a few years ago.

They do it.
then if they do get caught doing it they say the usual "I'm ever so sorry. it was oversight on my part. I'll pay it back"

and we say "Thank you"

its easier to seek forgiveness than it is to seek permission ;)

Re: Labour MP puts remembrance wreath on expenses

See must have filled out the claim form and submitted it in the first ruddy place. So how can it have been submitted by mistake if she knew she was not allowed to claim ????

Quote:

She admitted the claim "should never have been made" and would reimburse IPSA on Monday.

The TaxPayers' Alliance described it as "downright low".
Quote:

"Trying to put the bill on somebody else to honour our servicemen and women is downright low, but the fact that IPSA approved the claim shows how crushingly out of touch this overgrown monster of a quango is."

Absolutely disgusting but not the first and won't be the last politics seems to attract the shameless, bare faced and mickey takers if she had an ounce of integrity she'd pay it back and make both a public apology and hefty donation to a services charity or help for heroes won't hold my breath.
