Dehumidifier problem

Our DeLonghi combi-dryer failed a few months back. The illuminated dehumidifier on/off rocker switch had been flickering when switched on for quite a while but now but the machine worked fine. Now the light on the switch doesn't come on at all and the dehumidifier won't come on. There's an identical switch to control the fan heater and this works fine so I'm wondering if the switch could be the problem and whether it would be worthwhile trying to repair it.

Rocker switch replacement is fairly easy, try Maplins for a replacement.
(Check the spec before purchase though)

Hi TVM. Could the switch itself be the problem then? Seems hard to imagine that a simple switch could fail.

First, play with the bucket underneath it. if it is not properly in, it will not work. Juggle it to find the right spot that triggers it on (fail safe mechanism, it will not work if the bucket is not in,so it does not flood your place). the blob of the bucket that switches it on, might be broken

Failing that... google delongi and the frost safety thingy, it's temperamental in some models, it thinks that it's freezing on some "warm" days"

Thanks. Have checked the water container shut off mechanism and pretty sure it's not that. Will have a search for the frost protection thingy.

The light on the switch flickering first before failure could be a sign of a bad connection, this could have been the cause for the switch to fail, if your confident enough, take the switch out and look for signs of overheating, if you have a multimeter test the switch, a process of elimination.
