I cringed through the bits of the interview I saw. She was obviously unprepared for serious questions about policy. In fact I don't think she was prepared for any questions on the Party's policies. In fact I don't believe they have any policies thought through and costed.

I have to say she doesn't seem well briefed on many issues.

I saw her recently on a programme and she was clearly out of her depth when it came to anything substantive.

I reckon more people would respect politicians if just once in a while they said "I don't know". I applaud the Greens for their efforts regarding the environment but it'll be a long time before I'll take them seriously as a party, especially after this.

I listened to a part of the LBC interview and all of the Today one. Both were utterly fascinating as both interviewers simply let her make a complete ass of herself with no assistance required of them.

There is only so far you can get by appealing to a disaffected electorate. Unless the country really is going off the rails then I would imagine moderate voters are going to look for a certain degree of competency from those they elect.

Maybe the Greens have costed this but this interview confirms an impression many would have that these is a policy they've pulled out of thin air because it sounds good. Let's face it, that probably is what has happened.

These people are asking to be elected into positions of actual power where they'll influence lives and whilst they won't win anywhere near enough seats to either form a Government or from a significant part of a coalition they could still represent a consistuency.

I'd like to know how they are going to administer that. Surely that would require an inventory for EACH person revalued on a regular basis.

The Greens are the party I would fear most in power, they have no valid policies and are the party of spite and envy.

If you're going to put someone into debates against the leaders of the other parties, who have in turn at least won elected office somewhere other than their own party, you'd hope they'd be a 'ringer'. In other words, brilliant.

She turns up at any televised debate so clueless and bereft of knowledge she should be torn apart.

These aren't challenging questions, she's merely being asked questions about basic policy and falling on her backside because she has no clue about them.

Very valid points.

Parties on the fringes, less well resourced and financed than the mainstream parties, have to go out on a limb every once in a while and announce a "feel good" policy that they haven't really costed or been intelligently briefed on.

The greens weren't the only party caught up in a policy explanation disaster yesterday. UKIP launched their health policy and were unable to explain how they would deliver certain elements of it when challenged. Admittedly it wasn't car crash TV in the sense that the greens policy issues were, none the less it happened and, when dissected, doesn't really stand up to scrutiny and is exposed for the frail attempt at populist appeal that it is.

Smaller parties really must do better and up their game if they want to shape politics rather than play politics.
