The takeover of Current TV by Al Jazeera is causing somewhat of a disagreement...

Some background:

Current TV was in the Sky basic channel package and many believe that the decision by Sky to end this arrangement (and in effect force the channels closure) was done for political reasons.

There was a call for them to carry on via cable, but Current TV said that Sky did not give them enough notice to put alternative funding arrangements in place.

Current TV was subsequently sold to Al Jazeera and used for their own purposes.

Story is not talking about the Current TV one that was on Sky and Virgin Media.

Current TV in USA was sold to Al Jazeera so that Al Jazeera launch in USA (But some TV networks drop Current TV USA when their did hear about the takeover.)

The UK one was axe due to Sky stopping paying Current TV UK the % of Sky viewers money to them.
