Possible fault

Our Tivo is doubling up on the recordings for some reason on certain programs.

We set one program on a wish list and set series link and now it records the same thing twice.

How do we stop this please.

It's probably down to the recording settings you used, but may also be an error in the guide data. I'd to know exactly which programme it is and the recording settings in use to say why it is doing it. Posting a few screenshots might be easiest.

Is it recording HD as well norm. Set up just using the series link option, watch out for reruns or new only.

I think it's because you've set it in the Wishlist, which will give you the HD version, and you've also set it by series record. Delete whichever one you don't want and you should then only get one version of the recording.

It should still only record one copy. I've just tried it with a WishList for "title:brazil" and a series link for Wild Brazil on Eden (SD). It's only going to record it from Eden HD.

I have just done the same as you and get the same result. But is that the correct action? My wishlist only looked for HD programmes and the series link was on the HD channel. As these are different resolutions I think it should record both. I need to lookup what TiVo help says about it if I can find where the help is.

Whether it's right or wrong is arguable, but it is working as designed

I set the tivo to record QI on Friday and for some strange reason it recorded a movie on E4,yet the banner at the bottom of the screen still read QI.

That's a known software issue. You might find also you can't delete the incorrect recording. Apparently it can be fixed by going to Home, then Help&Settings, then Clear or Reset TiVo box, and then Clear Programme Info & Planned Recs. This will take a hour or so, so don't do it when you want to watch something.

Maybe you're thinking of "Clear and Delete Everything", which does do that. Careful which you choose!

Despite the name, you don't even lose future recordings with Clear Programme Info & Planned Recs. It deletes them, but then recreates them from your existing Series Links using the freshly-downloaded guide data.

Thank you, Spiderplant, that's worth knowing!

I've often wondered how it treats HD variants ie does it just record the next available airing of a show, or does it give you any options?
