Help with Asus RT-AC66U.

When we were on VM 50 meg and had separate router and modem, we had no problems with our wireless. As well known the SH1 was rubbish and we had it replaced with SH2, but the wireless was still woeful.
After reading on numerous forums how much better the AC66 was, I have just bought one. I installed latest merlin firmware, and it works great on wired connection, but the wireless is actually worse than the SH2. I am not as tech savvy as a lot of people, but I think I have it set up right. Is there a chance the unit is faulty? Or more likely I have just set it up wrong?

I am on 152 Meg. Thanks for any help.

The wireless on mine is great. I can get a signal outside when im in a taxi as my phone always connects when i am paying and i have a rather large front garden.

I cannot comment on the AC66U, but I had a n66U and the wireless on this was pathetic, worse than my SH2ac asnd my 10 year old Linksys wrt54G. I have a deadspot in my house and I was hoping that the n66U was going to sure it, but it was so poor, that when my laptop was close to it, the signal from the SH2ac from 8m away was still stronger.

I have no intention of trying an Asus product again, as they appear to be rubbish at the moment. I wonder if the latest builds electronics have been changed for inferior componets.

Its not clear whether you are talking about the speed of the wifi connection or the range of the wifi. 5Ghz will always shorter than 2.4Hhz ( although I bet someone will disagree).

It was both, the speed and range were both down compared to SH2. Ended up taking it back and getting a refund. Second Asus product I've had recently that left a lot to be desired.
