What kind of idiot does this?

People like this make me sick:

What on Earth is in their heads? If someone can drive along a motorway like this, what else are they capable of I wonder? Last winter I saw someone driving along the nearby main road with an iced up windscreen from which they'd cleared a viewing hole the size of a drinks coaster - it beggars belief really. :nutter:

It is illegal all over Europe, but is it illegal here?

According to the article it would appear so.

"Not only is this motorist a risk to themselves and a risk to others on the M60, the driver is committing a criminal offence by driving with an impaired windscreen."

Given that even a small chip in the screen will fail the MOT having it completely covered in snow has to be illegal.

Take special care that lights, brakes, steering, exhaust system, seat belts, demisters, wipers and washers are all working. Also

lights, indicators, reflectors, and number plates MUST be kept clean and clear
windscreens and windows MUST be kept clean and free from obstructions to vision
lights MUST be properly adjusted to prevent dazzling other road users.
Linky

Mine failed an MOT once on the sunstrip that I had put at the top of the screen to keep glare down from between the sun visors was deemed too opaque and in the line of sight by a very tall MOT tester. ( I'm quite short so it wasn't imparing my vision)

When we had the snow this year on boxing day I saw one of these idiots driving a red BMW in the A617 with a hole in the snow on the windscreen about 12x6 inches. I'd rather be late for work than attempt to drive a car with very limited vision.

Section 3, driving without due care and attention springs to mind as a catch-all charge before you even look at other offences under construction and use regulations.

It truly does amaze me just how many people do really stupid things on the road while driving but this is just outright dangerous IMO I mean it is not very difficult to remove snow from the windscreen is it  after all it only takes a few minutes of your time what an idiot to disregard your own and other peoples safety on the road.

Shall we have a guess on the sex/ethnicity ?

Female/Asian

Saying that. it might just be Tracey.

I have given up on the idiocy & stupidity of other car users.

I'm surprised both headlights are working, if you went behind it you may find that the rear lights are not all working or are likely also covered in snow.
I see people clean off their mirrors but forget the front & rear lights.

When having a boring trip with the family I can play "spot the light out" and usually end up winning with extremely high numbers, it's like a 3rd of all cars have faulty lights.

In the ops case - I wonder if the police have been actively looking at the footage to get the number plate & do something about it - they seem to on youtube these days when there is a clear buck in it for them.

No.

Curious about this, dont dashboard cameras point forwards ?

The car was filmed driving along the Barton Bridge section of the M60 earlier this week by another motorist's dashboard camera.

Unless you put them in the back window. then they point backwards.

Re: What kind of idiot does this?

If it snows you should clear the snow off the car completely not just your windows. If snow comes off while driving and causes problems to other drivers that's not safe and you can be fined.

I always clean lights, windows when icy and get all (or nearly all) the snow off the car when that is needed though I'd prefer not to drive.

Why not also play - spot the front fogs on when it's not foggy. And I know sometimes the DRL option can look like front fogs but their is usually a difference. I did see on PC pull someone for driving with fogs on in clear weather on an urban lit road too.

You can buy cameras which do both.

Plenty of advice here:

Tbh that's a jump, even for me.

Actually I doubt a woman would be that stupid. As to the ethinicity.......i don't see a need to go there.

No if they had no insurance or mot, that'd be different.

Personally I would give them 12 points and ban them for 2 years then made to retake the extended driving test.

IMHO the driving test should include motorway driving.
