Tivo faulty?

Wondering if someone could help.

Was sat watching a film 20 mins ago and noticed the tivo box lights on the far right going bonkers all lighting up then going off watched it do this a few times. So switched to tv and noticed the tivo was saying starting up on screen and was stuck like this for 15 mins. So i reset the box and all i get is the same thing with 1 red light and 1 blue light on the far side.

I then googled the answer and it suggested something to do with hdmi...either way i reset again even changing hdmi leads and turning the box off for 10 mins...i did get the box to boot up once and it said downloading channels then just went black.

I have reset again since and had the 3 green lights on the far side the one in the middle turn red for about 10 mins then went green and sometimes i get 2 red and a blue on the right side hit atm it's 3 green far left with 1 red 1 blue right side and can't get past the starting up screen.

Does it look like my tivo has gone bust?

Oh dear, another one. :(

If you leave it switched on for a few hours, it might recover. But the chances are it's dead.

Yeah I think is buggered I eventually got it to boot up to the menu with no sound or picture but nothing would work even going to the recorded programs it shows the HD 51% full but nothing to play and kept coming up with a code (C501) to contact Virgin.

Tried the box again this morning and it's stuck again on the boot screen saying please wait so time for a new box I think....little bit miffed over losing all my recorded programs though.

It's a shame virgin didn't have a cloud storage for things like this

Yes, cloud storage is definitely the way for the future. While it's good to have a 1TB box, the thought of losing upwards of 400 hours of recordings that I really want to view is a bit worrying!

one good feature though is being able to transfer series links, thumbs and suggestions through the anywhere website ;)... shame about the recordings but better than nothing

I had the same problem on my TiVo over the weekend and it was replaced today. Sadly lost all my old recordings along with the box. I've tried the instructions to transfer series link, wishlists etc onto the new box but I don't get the option to copy settings. Anyone know why?

Are you saying you can see the old box listed, but not copy from it?

Re: Tivo faulty?

No the old box isn't appearing on the website at all. It's only showing the new box installed today.

Someone else reported that last week. The following day it was listed. So try again tomorrow.

May also be worth logging out and clearing cookies.

Not sure. I have another menu option, "Copy Tivo settings", in the left hand pane.

Did you go to http://anywhere.virginmedia.com/tivo/boxswap ?
