Ntlworld and gmail
My first post and cry for help. Have iPad Air2 and standard windows tower set up. Two email accounts ntlworld.com which I operate via the email button on my iPad and gmail account which I open and work with from an icon on home screen. Emails sent to me from either address seem to now arrive in both inboxes and I wonder why? I understand that there is now a tie up between ntl and Google but do not understand it. Is it possible to return to the the two as separate receiving addresses? Or indeed is it a good idea? If anyone would like to set me on right path will be happy to listen I am a bit on the old side and at times a bit slow on the uptake.
Thanks Thomas . |
Re: Ntlworld and gmail
ntl - or more correctly Virgin Media - simply use google as their email service provider. Virgin Media bolt on their own website front page, and rename some of the server connections such as imap.ntlworld.com, but effectively the back end is google.
I don't have an ipad so don't know how that system's email works. But I do know that in many of the windows clients you need to be careful to keep mailboxes as entirely separate accounts. It is too easy for the mail clients themselves to try and merge stuff into one folder. |
Re: Ntlworld and gmail
Thanks, very good of you to add your comment so quickly. In fact I have these addresses in separate accounts. The iPad has a dedicated mail system ino that goes ntlworld.com mail then I open gmail by going on line and download gmail.com webmail. I think the damage is done back at the servers. If you known of anyone who may be able to help please let me know:dunce:I am keen to only have the mail meant for each address going to it and not as it is now everything going to both.
